Add Bookmark Maestro to Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc and clean up the bookmarks you already have — free, and no account needed to see what it finds.
Add Bookmark Maestro to your browser
Free, one click, and no account needed to see what it finds. It scans the Chrome bookmarks you already have — nothing is uploaded, nothing is migrated.
Already installed it?
Reload this page — this only asks once when the page opens. If it still says otherwise, open chrome://extensions and check that Bookmark Maestro is switched on, and that you are in the Chrome profile you installed it in.
What happens next
1. Add it to your browser
One click from the Chrome Web Store. Chrome will ask you to confirm the permissions — what they are and why is right below.
2. Pin it, so you can find it
Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar, then the pin next to Bookmark Maestro. Alt+B opens it from anywhere, and you can change that key at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
3. Run the first scan
Open the Doctor and it counts what it finds: duplicates, dead links, empty folders, tracking parameters. Every diagnosis is free and needs no account — Pro is for applying the fixes in bulk.
What Chrome will ask you to allow
- Your bookmarks
- Read and organize them. That is the product — there is no version of this that doesn't.
- All websites
- Only to check whether your saved links still work. Testing a bookmark means requesting the page it points at, and a bookmark can point anywhere, so there is no shorter list to ask for. Nothing is read from the pages you browse.
- Nothing leaves your browser
- Every scan runs locally against Chrome's own bookmark store. Your bookmarks are never uploaded — an account exists for billing, not for your data.
The full list, permission by permission, is in the privacy policy.
Which browsers work
Any desktop browser built on Chromium: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera and Vivaldi all install from the Chrome Web Store. Safari and Firefox use a different extension format and aren't supported, and phones and tablets can't run Chrome extensions at all. The link cleaner and the recovery guide on this site run in any browser.
